Had a wonderful time working with the formidable Guy Johnston and Melvyn Tan in Ambleside in the Lake District, with masterclasses, rehearsals, and a shared performance. I shared the stage with RAM cellists Jayden Lamcellari and Ellen Baumring-Gledhill, performing Beethoven's:
12 Variations on 'See the conqu'ring hero comes', WoO 45, and
12 Variations on 'Ein Mädchen oder Weibchen', Op. 66
We then joined forces with Guy to perform the moving Op. 66 Requiem by David Popper for three cellos and piano.
There was always something happening within the festival while we were there, with numerous concerts in multiple locations across the Lake District, as well as two string quartets receiving masterclasses from accomplished performers.
This was my, and Jayden's, second time working with Guy Johnston, with us having performed a movement from the Rachmaninoff Cello Sonata in a masterclass last November. It was incredible working with him again and I hope we do so again in the near future.
